Gotham Writing Classes and Workshops

Founded in 1993, Gotham Classes and Writer's Workshops set out to demystify the writing process. The school has done that by offering comprehensive classes in nearly every genre, both in New York City and online.

One of the many things that sets Gotham's classes apart from the competition is known as "The Booth". During this process, the writer listens to their classmate's comments before responding. The classmate starts with a positive comment about the writer's work. The idea is to help the listener identify their strengths. Next, the process moves onto what can be improved. Then the instructor provides a detailed analysis of the writer's work. Finally, the writer exits the metaphoric "Booth" and has the opportunity to ask questions.

All Gotham faculty are professional writers. Such a staff has led to many Gotham "success stories" and Gotham has become a leading creative writing school in New York City and online.

Besides courses on writing, Gotham offers resources for writers, forums, publishing news, and contests making for a vibrant author's community.
